How to rename a Youtube Channel/ How to link a Youtube Channel to a different Google Plus Profile/Page

Google introduced a method by which your Youtube Channel would be directly linked to your Google Plus Profile/ Page, further increasing the connection between Google Plus and Youtube. Even though connecting your Youtube Channel to your Google Plus profile has several advantages in a way that it can generate a lot of traffic through Google’s Social Networking Site, what if you want your Youtube Channel to be independent?

One major disadvantage of linking both your channel and Google Plus Profile is that your channel will be renamed to the name of your Google Plus Profile. If you want to change the name of the channel, then you will have to change the name of the Google Plus Profile. A tad complicated and stubborn, right?

If you are lucky to have decided to switch back to the old youtube channel that is not linked to Google Plus Profile within 14 days, then you can go to this link https://www.youtube.com/account and unlink your Youtube Channel from the Google Plus Profile.

But what if you have passed that 14 days grace period? There is a way to rename your Youtube Channel back to the old name. This method will work even if you want to link your Youtube Channel to a different Google Plus profile or Page.

If you want to rename your channel:

1. Create a Google Plus Page with the name you want your Youtube Channel to have.
2. Then go to the following page https://support.google.com/youtube/contact/ytgplus
3. Type in your name in the first box
4. Type in the e-mail address which you use to login to your Youtube Channel
5. Then paste the URL of your Youtube Channel
6. Then in the “Please select the issue you’re experiencing ” category, choose “Channel connected to the wrong Google+ Profile or Page”
7. Then enter the URL of the Google Plus Profile/ Page your Youtube Channel is currently connected to.
8. Then in the next box enter the URL of the page which you created in the first step.
9. Tick both the boxes, that say “On a Computer”, “On a Smart Phone, tablet or other device”
10. Then for “Describe your issue here”, type “My Youtube Channel has mistakenly been connected to the wrong profile. I want to connect it to the aforementioned page.”
11. Click on submit.
12. You will be contacted by a Google Staff, usually within 24 hours, requesting you to authorize them to perform the transmission. Respond saying “Yes”, and your Youtube Channel would be renamed within 24 hours.

If you want to link your Youtube Channel to a different profile or page:

1. Go to the following page https://support.google.com/youtube/contact/ytgplus
2. Type in your name in the first box
